In July 2012 association "Langas į ateitį" joined the project "Safer Internet", which is implemented in Lithuania since 2005 under the Safer Internet Programme of the European Commission.

During the period of July 2012 – June 2016, the project was implemented by 4 organizations: Centre of Information Technologies in Education, Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania, association "Langas į ateitį", NGO "Childline". Additionally telecommunications company TEO LT, AB joined the project as a partner.

The new period of the project was also approved and will continue till the end of 2018.

The objectives of the project are to increase public awareness about harmful content and conduct on the internet; promote safer online environment; provide the society with a contact points for reporting illegal and harmful content, in particular on child sexual abuse material, grooming and cyberbullying.

The Safer Internet Centre established by this project consists of:

1. An awareness centre which aims to educate the society and promote a safer online environment.

2. Hotline which provides a facility to accept and process reports from the public about illegal and harmful content on the internet.

3. A helpline which provides a facility to answer online questions and telephone calls from children and parents related to their use of online technologies, in particular in relation to harmful contact (grooming), harmful conduct (cyberbullying), harmful content and uncomfortable or scary experiences in using online technologies.
