Youth Work HD Project

Youth Work HD is a strategic partnership among four European organizations – Centre of Technical Culture Rijeka (Croatia), association „Langas į ateitį“ (Lithuania), Latvijas informācijas un komunikācijas tehnologijas association (Latvia) and European Grants International Academy (Italy), with the goal of using ICT for solving the pressing social problem – youth unemployment. The project will last for two years and is co-financed by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme.

The quality and success of youth work in 21st century is highly dependent on its capability to meet and constructively relate not only to the needs of young people, but also to the knowledge and expectations of society in general, other actors in the youth field, and both professional and volunteer youth workers.

Project partners have recognized a set of ICT tools and skills that they find important in daily work with young people: online safety, social networks for reaching out to young people, tools for online cooperation, online counselling, open educational resources. Recognizing the potential of digital technology, during the project the online platform will be developed and will serve for professional development of youth workers and assure them with basic knowledge and skills they need.

Project activities:

  • Research on youth work in partner countries: desk research of the online tools and educational materials available to youth workers, online survey about general skills and knowledge needed by youth workers and focus groups/structured interviews with smaller groups of youth workers.
  • Development of 4 online courses in line with research results gathered. The courses will be available in partner languages and in English.
  • Introducing the online courses to youth workers. At the initial stage pilot training of 50 youth workers will be implemented. Later on, the platform will be disseminated in partner countries, as well as on the European level through different networks in which the partners are included.
