Generation 0101 project

Seven European organizations have found the key to youth unemployment – they will conduct a research on the implementation of the Digital Agenda in the countries in which they operate and on the basis of research they will write the guidelines for decision-makers. Also, they will develop seven educational modules in the ICT field and after all educate 245 young people.

Generation 0101 is a strategic partnership between seven European organizations - Centre of Technical Culture Rijeka (Croatia), Centro Studi Città di Foligno (Italy), Langas į ateitį (Lithuania), Cyprus Community Media Centre (Cyprus), Telecentre (Croatia), Latvijas informācijas un komunikācijas tehnologijas association (Latvia), University of Izmir (Turkey) - with the aim of using information and communication technologies for solving the pressing social problem - youth unemployment. The project, that will last two years, is co-financed by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme with the amount of € 275,295.00.

Project activities

At the first meeting, which was held on 19th and 20th November 2014 in Izmir, Turkey, partners were preparing to conduct research on the impact of Digital Agenda (the first of seven flagships initiatives under Europe 2020, the EU's strategy to deliver smart sustainable and inclusive growth) in Cyprus, Croatia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and Turkey, with special emphasis on youth unemployment. The research will include young people, decision-makers and employers in all the countries from which partners come, and will be conducted through surveys and focus groups. Based on the research results, which are expected by May 2015, the partners will develop guidelines for decision-makers in the ICT field at national and European level.

In the European Union in the next few years is expected lack of 900,000 professionals in the field of digital technologies. The Generation 0101 project aims to address several important issues that are present in today's society, namely the growing problem of youth unemployment and the need to place a stronger emphasis on development and recognition of ICT skills among young people in order for them to become more competitive in the job market and to enable their employment in digital jobs.

Partners, organizations that are for years engaged in (non)formal public education in the ICT field, have recognized the seven areas that are in demand in the labour market. Each partner will develop one educational module (educational materials for trainers and trainees) and then will educate young people for free through one of the seven modules. In the end there will be 245 young Europeans educated in these seven modules.


In addition, during the project, partners will join several European campaigns to raise public awareness of the potential for employment in the digital industry and promotion of digital inclusion, such as Get Online Week and eSkills for Jobs.
