Trainings for PIAP curators are organized

In May and June trainings to the curators of new PIAPs established in rural areas during the project "Development of Rural Internet Access Points Network" will be held. The main gaol of these trainings is to provide some knowledge about PIAP functions, administration and maintenance to new PIAPs curators.

Disabled persons will attend computer literacy courses

Association Langas į ateitį together with the Department for the Affairs of Disabled at the Ministry of Social Security and Labour is organizing a conference "Accessibility of Information Technologies to the Disabled". During the event the computer literacy trainings were presented.

Langas į ateitį awarded 4 municipalities of Lithuania

Finishing the EU Social Fund project "Computer Literacy Basics for a Lithuanian e-Citizen" association Langas į ateitį announced four Lithuanian municipalities that most actively participated in organized computer literacy trainings. The municipalities of Ukmergė, Šilalė, Vilkaviškis and Alytus district were awarded.

Langas į ateitį will provide trainings to disabled persons

Association Langas į ateitį already for 2 years is providing computer literacy trainings to Lithuanian adults. Recently, the project "Computer Literacy Basics for a Lithuanian e-Citizen" received additional financing from EU Social Fund to provide computer literacy and internet usage trainings to 400 persons with disabilities. The courses will be organized in 16 Societies of Disabled Persons.

The Ministry of Finance acknowledged Langas į ateitį project

Association Langas į ateitį received an acknowledgement from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania as an example of good practice implementing the EU Social Fund project "Computer Literacy Basics for a Lithuanian e-Citizen".

Radio broadcast "Age of Knowledge"

The international conference "PIAP - for the Development of the Information Society in Lithuania" will be presented on a Lithuanian National Radio broadcast "Age of Knowledge".

Conference "PIAP are for the Development of the Information Society in Lithuania"

On 18 January 2008 the international conference "PIAP - for the Development of the Information Society in Lithuania" will be held.

The conference is a part of the project "Development of Rural Internet Access Points Network". The project is implemented by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania with a goal to expand the PIAPs network in Lithuania by establishing 400 new PIAPs and modernizing 83 PIAPs in rural areas.

Lithuania has the most dense PIAP network in Europe

This year the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania completed the third and the largest stage of the PIAPs establishment. Until the end of July 400 new PIAPs will be opened and 83 PIAPs modernized in rural areas. Necessary equipment will be provided to the branches of libraries, local communities, schools, municipalities and other institutions.

As a result Lithuania has the most dense network of more than 800 public internet access in Europe where citizens can use computers and internet free of charge.

Openings of new PIAPs

The openings of new PIAPs are celebrated in various places of Lithuania. Finishing the project "Development of Rural Internet Access Points Network" the members of local communities were invited to visit new PIAPs where they can use computers and internet, and also get such services as printing, copying, scanning and faxing.

The internet today provides wide possibilities to find information and use e-services for studies, work and everyday life.
