Safer internet for kids in summer camps

saugus internete introAssociation "Langas į ateitį" and the whole team of Lithuanian Safer Internet Center actively spent this June visiting children summer camps to raise awareness about online safety. 10 summer camps were visited, where 700 primary school kids have participated in entertaining and educational events called „Safe on the Internet during Summer Time!“.

As on June 2015, youth unemployment (26 thousand) rate reaches 16,6 per cent in Lithuania (EU average is 20,7). 72 per cent of them have secondary school, college or even university degree. IT sector may hire at least 15-20 thousand new IT professionals over the next 5 years, but labour market and education system can offer only small part of this demand. One of the main reasons of the shortage of IT specialists in Europe is the lack of youth awareness in digital jobs.

The pilot training of Generation0101 has started in Lithuania

All the invited youngsters gathered in Vilnius and Kaunas, two largest cities in Lithuania, and started their participation in the training. The training marathon was started by e. journalism module in Vilnius. The participants began their acquaintance with the basics of journalism and e. journalism, the ins and outs of the e. journalist profession and a wide range of activities that an e. journalist must know how to perform on a daily basis.


Employers should be involved in tackling the shortage of ICT specialists

On 7 April the State Unemployment Agency in Vilnius gathered ICT employers and recruiters for a debate on youth employability in Lithuania.

A Short Summary of GOW2016 in Lithuania

Overview of the GOW2016

It was the 7th year when association "Langas į ateitį" has participated in the Get Online Week campaign. The message that we spread through all the activities this year was raise awareness about online identities, cyber-security, ICT skills and available tools so that European citizens become confident Internet users as approximately 70% of Europeans are afraid of losing their personal data on the internet this year we proposed a possible solution to decrease the uncertainty and fear by teaching people about ways to stay safe online. As well, we wanted to emphasize that the enormous amount of youth online does not illustrate the high level of youth digital ICT skills that are needed in the job market.


Safer Internet Day in Lithuania

SID2016 logo LT trumpasThe 13th annual edition of Safer Internet Day took place on 9 February 2016. The theme for SID 2016 was ‘Play your part for a better internet’ with the aim of encouraging people to play their part in making the most of the positive opportunities offered online, while giving all technology users – but especially children and young people – the skills, knowledge, resilience and support they need to navigate any online risks they may encounter.


School librarians participate in the online safer internet trainings

Association “Langas į ateitį” and “Microsoft Lietuva” took an interest making a school library a safer place by providing education possibilities to school librarians to improve their online safety knowledge and skills.
