PIAP network administration
The consortium of partners – Association Rural Internet Access Points, S4ID UAB, Association Langas į ateitį and Kaunas University of Technology – is continuing the implementation of a project “PIAP network administration and maintenance” financed by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania.
The main gaol of this project is to maintain and strengthen the functioning of PIAPs network in remote and rural areas of Lithuania. At the same time the project will encourage the decrease of the level of digital exclusion that still exists among people living in rural areas and larger cities. PIAPs will encourage the members of local communities to use public and private e-Services, to study on-line and to use all other services available on internet. In this way activities of PIAPs will encourage the development of information society in Lithuania.
Today the PIAP network in Lithuania includes more than 800 Public internet access points. It is not surprising that different problems arise to PIAP tutors in their everyday activities. Because of this reason one of the most important task of a project “PIAP network administration and maintenance” is to provide help and consultations to PIAP tutors and other interested persons.
Traditionally, during the project 3 events will be organized to the partners of PIAP network, PIAP tutors and visitors will be invited to participate in various competitions and to win valuable prizes, electronic newsletter will be prepared periodically. Also, project team will visit some PIAPs to discover existing problems, the need of new equipment and learning.
During the project the common PIAP website www.vipt.lt will be administrated with the purpose to fulfil the needs of PIAP tutors and visitors. The good practise of exchanging the information about events in Public internet access points will be encouraged further.
