Participation in International Telecentre conference in Hungary

The International Telecentre Strategic Planning Conference was held in Hungary on May 22-25, 2008. Participants of the conference were representing Telecentre (in Lithuania – Public Internet Access Points) movements from all over the world: most European countries, Uganda, Senegal, Canada, USA, India, Bangladesh and other countries. Two organizations from Lithuania engaged in the development of Public Internet Access Points network – association Langas į ateitį and association Public Internet Access Points – were invited to the conference as well.

During the conferences association Langas į ateitį and association Public Internet Access Points joined European Union Telecottage Association EUTA as a members. The organization unites members from 11 European Countries with an objective to strengthen the role of telecentres developing information society and to represent telecentres in European context.

During the conference discussions on different issues were held – the sustainability of telecentres, development of e-services, strengthening of communities, partnership and cooperation among telecentre organizations.
