The Telecentre-Europe Summit 2011 took  place at Espace Moselle in Brussels, Belgium during 27-28 October 2011, and gathered  an invited audience of about 100 telecentre network leaders and guests from all over Europe. The event was organized under the patronage of Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for the Digital Agenda, and is co-hosted by our Belgian network member Interface3.

Under the title Telecentres: get to work! the event explored how telecentres brought economic growth to their communities improving employment. The yearly summit is well known as an important opportunity for digital inclusion organizations across Europe to explore together new services and products. This time it included a series of interactive sessions and presentations on the sustainability of telecentres, their role in facilitating proper digital skills for young people, telecentre digital content creation and more.

Association Langas I ateiti has been an active member in the Telecentre-Europe AISBL since 2008. In the fourth Telecentre-Europe Summit during one of the interactive sessions  Langas I ateiti representatives Loreta Krizinauskiene and Rita Sukyte  introduced recent activities  among which Leonardo da Vinci program funded project  e-Guardian (full name Development and certification of skills for European Educators focused on Safe ICT and Cyber threat prevention) is of special importance.

Today Internet has become not a possibility but a need. One of the general competences of the employees is the ability to safely use computers and the Internet  This is especially important for educational institutions where employees/trainers could apply their knowledge not only in their work but transfer it to their students.

Till April, 2012 e-Guardian partners (LT, LV, DE and CH) will develop standartized guidelines and content for cyber security skills development for VET staff and implement motivation and skills evaluation/certification criterias as a part of adults non-formal and informal learning. These products will be presented to partnership member states organizations responsible for adults education and will be available for implementation in all EU countries .The innovative product will be based on ICT using e-learning and automated evaluation tools.
