With the final conference in the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania association Langas į ateitį completed the project Computer Literacy Basics for a Lithuanian E-Citizen.

For two years Langas į ateitį provided free courses of computer and Internet usage basics to 50 000 adults in Lithuania. The project was the largest-ever training programme in the country: the courses were conducted by over 400 lecturers in 2,938 classrooms and 181 Public Internet Access Points. The average age of participants in the courses was 43 years. Over a half of participants were Lithuanian residents aged between 40 and 59 years. These figures prove that the objective of providing computer skills training for people who are active on the labour market but for various reasons have not learnt how to use a computer has been achieved.

The project “Computer Literacy Basics for a Lithuanian e-Citizen” was implemented under the European Social Fund programme (Measure 2.2. “Development of Labour Force Competences and the Ability to Adapt to Changes” of Priority 2 “Human Recourse Development” of the SPD of Lithuania for the period 2004-2006).
